Originally from Oregon in the US, the queer singer, composer, performer (and much more besides) Colin Self made a name for themselves in Berlin and New York over the past years with solo projects and numerous co-operations. His music oscillates and breaks down the genre boundaries between club and meditation. And his singing suspends the limitations of the voice: This kind of singing moves between archaic ritual and digital identities, between collective and individual. Binary systems are dissolved. As artist in residence at the Hanover State Opera, Colin Self will expand their own sound research, joined by the theatre’s ensembles, into the three-dimensional. Space and time – set into movement through the queer gaze.
