Himmel und Hölle is a review of the past two seasons: Kosmos emerged from observations of urban life, every-day movements of people and moments of unrest and hurry. Throughout this extraordinary rapidity of motion and the concentrated dance energy, the longing to take pause to think can be felt.
Moonlight is Juliano Nunes’ first commissioned piece in Germany and reflects the young choreographer’s artistic attitude: “The moon itself does not shine, but reflects the light of the sun, setting many natural processes into motion. Our inspiration, too, comes from our environment, before we give it shape.”
“How animated is a dead branch, how heavy is a crow?”
In Kiss a Crow, his first new creation for Hanover, Marco Goecke takes a look behind things, questioning life and art, confronting transience with the will to live. This choreography is an impressive illustration of how the choreographer meets the permanent creative challenge of capturing both life’s abysses and its sublimity.
