Overview
Between appearances at Carnegie Hall and Elbphilharmonie, she will be in Hanover: The US-American singer Somi Kakoma with roots in Rwanda and Uganda has a jazz background and was nominated for a Grammy amongst other awards – and now she has set out on an extensive world tour to present her captivating new album Zenzile: The Reimagination Of Miriam Makeba. Her approach to the songs of the South African singer and civil rights activist Miriam Makeba is as emotional as it is unusual: “It is my attempt to honour the uncompromising voice of an African woman who lay the ground for myself and countless other artists to forge our paths in the first place.”
