DakhaBrakha in Concert

Traditional Ukrainian music meets musical styles from other parts of the world: the four-piece band DakhaBrakha from Kiev, who describe their music with a wink as "ethno-chaos", delight their international audience with their surprising mix of different rhythms and sounds. The name of the band, which was founded in 2004 by Vladyslav Troitskiy, the director of the avant-garde theater Dakh, means "give and take" in Ukrainian. The concept behind it is to take old regional folk music and combine it with other musical influences. Accompanied by traditional instruments from different countries, the quartet creates a transnational sound rooted in Ukrainian culture with its amazingly powerful and uncompromising vocals.
