Charity Concert for Stiftung Staatsoper Hannover
The new season 2020/21 will once again be opened with a concert benefiting Stiftung Staatsoper Hannover (the Hanover State Opera Foundation). The Foundation supports the State Opera’s work with great commitment, both financially and in non-material ways. The proceeds of this benefit concert will go to the Foundation, so that the audience can directly support our work by purchasing tickets.
As always, the programme will include excerpts from the season’s programme. And there will be extraordinary highlights, too: This will be the first occasion for the new General Music Director Stephan Zilias to introduce himself to the audience – and to moderate the event, together with Artistic Director Laura Berman.
French tenor Benjamin Bernheim will be the evening’s guest star. He is one of the most sought-after opera singers of his vocal type, “the major French lyric tenor the opera world is longing for” (Chicago Tribune). He will sing French and Italian arias of the romantic repertoire. And, of course, the members of the opera company, many of whom have become firm favourites with the audience, will contribute to this very special evening.
Opening Concert of the Season
We are looking forward to welcoming our audience to the new season with a festive opening concert. For the first time, Artistic Director Laura Berman and Hanover’s new General Music Director Stephan Zilias will guide you through the coming opera season.
The audience can look forward to a high-class musical programme including excerpts from works that are featured in the coming season’s programme. GMD Stephan Zilias will take up the baton for the first time in his new position. Old and new members of the opera company and Kapellmeister will present musical highlights of the coming months.
